Project Building 3  Meetings and Workshops    Madrid October 2015

 

Dear All,

Here are the notes, in booklet (3), form that I have prepared for the meeting in Madrid.   You may find it helpful to look at some of the points before we meet.   Please bring this booklet to the meeting.

 

You may wish to make notes in some of the boxes to remind yourself of what you are planning as your next steps and also some notes that you may wish to share.

Please look at the website and check your own country's section:

1.     Please bring all new relevant material for the filmers and the website.

Manuela and Harald will start to put the film together in October.                                 

2.   Please bring a list of planned next year's main activities (See last page inside) of your school on a Memory stick to exchange the datas, especially about

l  the fable or story

l  the economical event  we agreed on

l  the Eco award you are gaining (or have gained already)

l  the mobilities in your country if you are involved in hosting an event / workshop  .

3.    Please have a look at the evaluation papers on the website and bring ideas about how to comment or value them

( Ali Günay will not be in Madrid as he is organising a conference in Izmir)   

               
4.      Please bring the money for Volker (150€) and Lesley (200 Euros for year two) - or transfer it to my account.

I will bring receipts for Volker and Lesley will bring her own receipts.                     

5.     I will bring calculations for printing the fables in various forms. Please calculate   the amount you can spend on it.                       

6. Bring suggestions and ideas how we can distribute the books.

1. Please bring your project building booklet 1 & 2 from the first two meetings. We will review our progress and may refer to them during the meeting for information. 

 

2. Remember that the key message for year two is 'we can' and that project work should reach out to your whole school communities.

 

3. Also bring a paper copy of your evaluation (You will need this to write on).  We will take time to offer support and guidance for evaluation next steps.

 

 

 

 

 

THE BASIC SKILLS PLAN REMAINS THE SAME

 

 

Checklist - are you connecting with the Four Skills of the project.

 

The Four Skills Plan Key activities to run through the two years of the project are:

 

1.    Making Things

       (Making toys, gifts, food, clothes, seasonal produce, art from natural finds, etc)

 

 

 

 

 

2.    Growing things linked to Global Eco Work

       (Gardening, nature work and connecting with nature, local and global issues.  Connecting with seasons and seasonal activities.)

 

 

 

 

 

3.    Entertaining Ourselves

Documentary Update October 2015   Action Point       Notes:	Each school will make one small film showing one activity from each of the four skill plan work areas.  Very short two or three minutes.  Notes:  Films to zimmerkuehr@arcor.de     Please bring all new relevant material for the filmers and the website. Fables   Ulla will take us through the next steps   Action Points         Notes	Stone books / writing Fables   Mini-topic for each school linked to workshop subjects the topic work may be completed in year one and could be linked to your Eco Work, but the Fables should not be written until year two.   Bring your work on a pendisc please.   How many copies of the fable printed books do you want to order?
Reminder  -  The theme of year one is – ‘We Can’ …...   Action Points     This will be an important section for the final form.   Keep notes of your activities and actions.	The portfolio / record of new things that we can do individually can now be extended into a 'we can' year.        How will you do this  …..by... portfolios /  scrapbooks /  record sheets , etc?   How will you publish the project work around your school, in your community and also in the local area?   Have you encouraged people to look at your website area?
Keeping alive the traditions           YEAR TWO 'We Can'     How will you involve everyone?           Notes	Building the Project in your school community – planning ideas to extend the project.   List the ways you will develop out to your community.      What events are connected to the Project this year:   u    u    u    u    u    u

Looking ahead and trying to make the work of the final form easier.   Think now about connections across the main themes (Four skills Plan)

 

Engaging with the growing season       Question – do we use this or stick to the fables and film?	HAVE WE MADE ANY EXTRA RESOURCES THAT CAN BE SHARED........if you have, bring them on a pendisc to the meetings. Example - From Meeting 2........ What makes things grow?  (Terra Preta) We could split this into different countries taking a role and produce Eco  /   science cards linked to Nature / seasons / weather / cookery ‘I can….’  /……….etc.   Ideas for resources?
Global Issues	HOW ARE YOU INCLUDING KEY MESSAGES ABOUT THE GLOBAL ISSUES WITHIN YOUR WORK?   Think about this now because this is a key area of your work, it will need to be included in your final result.

 

 

This work could be ongoing and could form the core ´making things´ section of the four skills plan

All schools should have planned and organised or started to organise a traditional market for Autumn 2015.   This is where you sell your lovely items using traditional crafts.   Bringing in Enterprise / Financial Education in a way that works for your school.   Bring in enterprise and financial thinking linked to ´how much is this worth´…..explore….is it worth more or less if it is homemade?

 

Workshop on Self Evaluation and recording progress.

 

You will need your three School Improvement and Evaluation Sheets.

 

We will look at the self evaluation and school improvement section of the website and prepare next steps for year two.

 

Some schools need to look at the 'development and next steps' section on their School Improvement Action Plan.
