Making Milk Bottle Planters

by (sco)

In our school’s craft club we have been making planters out of milk bottles as part of our Erasmus+ Back to our Future project. Here’s how we made them.

You will need:

  • Cleaned out plastic milk bottle
  • Glue
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paint brushes
  • Scissors
  • Pipe cleaners and gems [optional]
  • Compost
  • Small plants and/or herbs

Method…

Step 1: First of all you want to cut a rectangular shaped hole in the top of your milk bottle.

Step 2: Decide what animal or vehicle you want to make, then chose the paint colours you want and mix them into the glue.

Step 3: Start to paint your bottle however you like.

Step 4: If you want to add detail to your creation, pipe cleaners and gems are a great option. [Let the paint dry first].

Step 5: Start to gently fill your bottle with the compost.

Step 6: Choose your small plant or herbs make a hole in the soil and carefully push it in.

All of the hard work was definitely worth it because the end product was amazing !
