LOOK AT US: WE CAN WORK TOGETHER WITH THE OLDER GENERATIONS, WE CAN LEARN FROM THEM, WE CAN ORGANISE THINGS/ EVENTS WITH OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY
On 20th Oct2015 kids from Szkoła Podstawowa nr 1 w Barlinku organised COOKERY WORKSHOPS in Dziedzice-a small village close to Barlinek. We were guests in a House of Village Housewives in Dziedzice Country Club.
Old Ladies taught us to cook our polish traditional dishes. We started with collecting apples in a orchard and cooking a big pot of apple compote.
We also cooked a lot of chicken soup and made homemade noodles and three kinds of sandwich paste (tuna, pepper and egg).
Finally we started baking cake- yeast cake with plums and crumble, hmm delicious.
Polish traditional cuisine is great.
Ladies took us also to the Old Village Museum and presented a traditional bread oven (unfortunately it didn’t work), kitchen furniture and told stories about past times. We didn’t know many things.
Kids in the past didn’t play much. They had to work with adults. There were no electricity in villages, no bathrooms, toilets. People took water from the well or river, cooked on wooden ovens. They produced all the food by themselves.
We also produced food. We made homemade butter. It was delicious. We made it with an electric blending machine, but it was super anyway.
Now we know that we won’t let the tradition die. It is possible to combine tradition with modernity. And it is good for us.
